Installations for purification of gases by the SwingTherm® method

Laboratory of the Applied Catalysis SwingTherm® Kraków Poland

     

     The catalytic method of the gas purification SwingTherm®, invented in eightes by dr Jerzy Wojciechowski, is making career in Poland and abroad.
     The characteristic features of the SwingTherm® method involve:
     - placing the catalyst bed between two layers of the ceramic filling,
     - supplying of heat into the middle part of the catalyst bed,
     - cyclic flow reversal of gases passing through the catalyst bed and the ceramic filling layers.

     Due to very low energy consumption, the method is particularly useful in the purification of industrial exhaust gases from organic contaminats and odours.
     The Laboratory of Applied Catalysis SwingTherm® in Cracow is currently designing novel generations of the SwingTherm® process and installations:
     - a new SwingTherm® Bi-Kat process, wich makes use of more economic catalysts,
     - a new FIS process making possible the purification of gases containing tars or other solid organic contaminants,
     - cassette reactors making possible the purification with the efficiency exceeding 99%.

     The Laboratory of the Applied Catalysis SwingTherm® in Cracow supplies the SwingTherm® equipment and installations for the purification of gases emitted from various sources, such as: lacquering chambers and dries, wooden good and furniture factories, chemical and food processing plants, yacht- and shipyards, processing of plastic materials, cigarette and pharmaceutical factories, printer shops etc.
     We have been offering recently SwingTherm® installations for disinfection of air in hospitals, as well as equipment for the ignition of organic waste and the catalytic purification of gasous products emitted during this process.

SwingTherm® EKOS
A unique method of ecological combustion of solid and liquid organic waste

    The SwingTherm® EKOS method consist in a thermal destruction of organic wastes in special chambers at temperatures of 200-500°C. The gaseous products of the pyrolyssis the transferred to a catalytic reactor of the SwingTherm® Bi-Kat type.
    In the reactor, the gaseous organic substances undergo the total combustion on a layer of a special catalyst at the temperatures between 500 and 700°C. The gases leaving the reactor contain minute amounts of organic substances.
    The SwingTherm® EKOS installation is suitable i.a. for destruction and combustion of the following organic wastes:
    - wastes of varnishes
    - oil waste
    - varnishing hooks
    - corundum contaminated with wood dust
    - oiled metal shavings
    - wastes of phenol-, polyester- and polyurethane-resins, other resins
    - used plastic containers
    - cleaning materials and oiled textile wastes
    - forming masess
    - waste active carbon
    - carcasses of animals

    The installation comprises one or more pyrolytic chambers equiped with oil or gas burners, an installation for the catalytic combustion of organic substances of the SwingTherm® Bi-Kat type, fan and chimney channel.
    The advantages gained form the application of the new method are manifold:
    - low energy consumption
    - heat recovery at large installations
    - no emission of dioxines and bezopyrenes
    - low investment cost

    The Laboratory of the Applied Catalysis SwingTherm® supplies complete SwingTherm® EKOS installation of various capacity.

SwingTherm® Bi-Kat X-X
Catalytic converters for deodorization and disinfection
 of air in enclosed spaces

    The SwingTherm® Bi-Kat X-X catalytic converters have been designed to remove organic contaminants and microorganisms from enclosed spaces.
    The SwingTherm® Bi-Kat X-X catalytic converters have found the following practical applications:
    - they combust ethylene and destroy microorganisms in the storages of horticultural crops, in kiosks, cellars etc.
    - they deodorise air in laboratories, production rooms, packing rooms for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics etc.
    - they disinfect air in polyclinics, hospitals, ambulatories etc.
    - they disinfect and deodorise air in premises for animals.

A passage from an opinion about the the SwingTherm® Bi-Kat X-X catalytic converter, 
given by the Institute of Microbiology, Academy of Medicine in Cracow:

"...The investigations were carried out on bacterial substrates wich made possible identification of practically all bacteria and fungi occuring in the human environment. Every substrate was exposed, at varying exposition times, to air ejected from the converter, then incubated in appropriate conditions of atmosphere and temperature. The obtained results have demonstrated that irrespective of the exposure time, the air ejected from the converter did not contain any bacteria occuring in the human environment".
